Daredevil #45: The Dismal Dregs of Defeat! #45

About this issue

Framed for murder and cornered by armed police, Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, faces his darkest hour in this classic Silver Age Marvel adventure from October 1968. The devious Jester has faked his own death and pinned the crime on Matt Murdock's masked alter ego. Now the law is closing in. Officers have the hero surrounded on a grassy hillside, onlookers gather to watch the capture, and the Jester gloats over his scheme, armed with a box of popcorn laced with deadly gas pellets. With his reputation in ruins and no way to prove his innocence, Daredevil must rely on his acrobatic skill, his radar sense and his sheer nerve to escape a hail of bullets. Written by Stan Lee and drawn by the legendary Gene Colan, with inks by Vinnie Colletta and lettering by Artie Simek, this issue showcases the moody, dynamic artwork that made Colan's run on Daredevil a fan favourite. Expect fluid action, dramatic shadows, a wisecracking villain and a cover featuring the hero swinging against the Statue of Liberty. A must-read for collectors of Bronze-edge Silver Age Marvel and fans of street-level superheroes. Start reading online instantly in your browser.
