About this issue

Here comes Daredevil, the Man Without Fear! In this landmark first issue from April 1964, Marvel introduces Matt Murdock, a young man whose life is changed by a tragic accident and who becomes one of the most unusual heroes in comics. Dressed in a striking yellow-and-red costume and armed with his trusty billy club, Daredevil leaps from the rooftops of New York to take on the criminals who prey on the city. This issue tells The Origin of Daredevil, with the gritty set-up in Fogwell's Gym on New York's Lower East Side, where a gang of crooks gets a rude shock. Along the way you meet Matt's friends, the fun-loving Foggy Nelson and the gorgeous Karen Page. Written by Stan Lee, illustrated by Bill Everett and lettered by Sam Rosen, this Silver Age classic shows the energy and style of early Marvel storytelling. It is a great read for fans of classic superhero comics, collectors of Marvel history and anyone who wants to see where the legend of Daredevil began.
