Daredevil #42: Nobody Laughs at the Jester! #42

About this issue

Here comes Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, in a classic Silver Age showdown with one of Marvel's most theatrical villains: the Jester! In "Nobody Laughs at the Jester!", the grinning menace makes a spectacular entrance. He loots an underground bank vault single-handedly, armed with sleep pellets and a handful of innocent-looking toys. Then he makes his getaway in style, with a deadly yo-yo and a flair for the dramatic that leaves bystanders stunned. The costumed clown is a showman first and a criminal second, and he wants an audience. When the Jester's act comes to the attention of blind lawyer Matt Murdock's crimefighting alter ego, the stage is set for a explosive clash across the city. Daredevil must outwit a foe whose gimmicks are as dangerous as they are absurd. This issue from July 1968 pairs Stan Lee's flamboyant scripting with the moody, cinematic pencils of Gene Colan, embellished by Dan Adkins. Expect dramatic panel layouts, shadowy night scenes and a bold cover by Marvel's Silver Age team. It's a must-read for fans of vintage Marvel, Daredevil collectors and anyone who loves classic costumed-villain adventures.
