In Heaven #8

About this issue

Spawn #8, "In Heaven", is a landmark issue of Image Comics' dark superhero series, written by comics legend Alan Moore with art by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. Published in 1993, it is a must-have for collectors and fans of the early Image era. Hellspawn Al Simmons wears a living costume, drags a cloak of chains and fights for a place between damnation and redemption. In this issue the story drops into a strange, eerie world, where the narration is flippant, sardonic and unsettling. Moody greens and deep blues give the pages a hallucinatory, nightmarish feel, set against McFarlane's trademark sweeping cape and heavy chains. Why read it? • A rare story from Alan Moore in the Spawn universe • Iconic McFarlane cover and distinctive, atmospheric artwork • A great entry point for fans of dark fantasy, horror and anti-hero comics • A key piece of 1990s comics history, from the year Image Comics changed the industry Whether you are rediscovering a classic or meeting Spawn for the first time, this issue shows why the character became a pop-culture phenomenon.
