Spawn #73: The Heap #73

About this issue

Spawn #73, "The Heap," plunges you back into the shadowy, gothic world of Todd McFarlane's Hellspawn. On the cover, Spawn's crimson cape and chains clash with a hulking, moss-and-thorn-covered monstrosity, and inside the story is just as intense, with moody, heavily inked art by Greg Capullo and Danny Miki. As Spawn keeps hunting the evil that preys on the innocent, the grimy city streets hide secrets, sinister figures and uneasy alliances. Sam and Twitch, the mismatched detectives, grind through their own investigation, while a mysterious, bearded stranger in a wide-brimmed hat warns that matters are about to become "decidedly more complicated." Written by Todd McFarlane and Brian Holguin, with colors by Brian Haberlin and Dan Kemp, this late-1990s issue shows the dark, atmospheric style that made Spawn one of the defining independent superhero series of its era. Whether you are a longtime collector filling gaps in your run or a new reader curious about the Hellspawn mythos, this issue delivers brooding horror, street-level noir and supernatural action.
