Spawn #94: The Children's Hour #94

About this issue

Spawn #94, "The Children's Hour", brings Todd McFarlane's dark supernatural saga to a quieter and far more unsettling place: a child psychologist's office. Written by Brian Holguin and Todd McFarlane, with pencils by Greg Capullo, inks by Danny Miki and rich colour by Dan Kemp and Brian Haberlin, this April 2000 issue shows how powerful a story can be when the horror begins with a child's drawing. On the cover, a desperate father carries a small girl through a swarm of bats, hinting at the danger that follows the characters. Inside, a gentle counsellor asks young Cyan to talk about her pictures, her family and how they make her feel. Every answer raises new questions, and the soft pastel panels contrast sharply with the shadows gathering at the edges of the page. This issue features child artwork by Cyan McFarlane and Kate McFarlane, adding a personal touch to the story. It also includes a recap of the previous issue for readers jumping in. Ideal for fans of Spawn, supernatural horror, dark fantasy and atmospheric superhero comics from the golden era of Image Comics.
