Spawn #106: Retribution Overdrive, Part II #106

About this issue

Spawn #106 continues the explosive Retribution Overdrive storyline from Todd McFarlane's dark superhero saga, with Steve Niles on story and plot, pencils by Angel Medina and a striking cover by Greg Capullo. A cyborg assassin known as Overt-Kill has massacred patrons at a crowded outdoor cafe, and the military is scrambling to contain the fallout. In a secret headquarters buried deep beneath New York City, General Franklin Marder is trying to bury the truth with phone calls, press manipulation and a confusing rumor. But something far more terrifying than a cyborg is closing in on him, and the hunt for answers is about to turn personal. Spawn, the hellspawn anti-hero cloaked in crimson and shadow, stalks the night with glowing eyes and a mission of his own. Moody, atmospheric artwork, heavy inks and rich colors by Haberlin Studios give this chapter a brooding, cinematic feel, while the pacing builds suspense page by page. Whether you are a longtime Spawn collector filling gaps in your run or a new reader curious about the early 2000s era of Image Comics, this issue delivers gothic horror, relentless action and street-level menace in one tense chapter.
