Fugitives, Part 2 #41

About this issue

Spawn #41 continues the dark "Fugitives" storyline from Todd McFarlane's blockbuster Image Comics series, with pencils by Greg Capullo and a cover that is pure 1990s horror-superhero spectacle. At the end of the previous issue, the hellspawn Al Simmons was left helpless in the clutches of the sinister Curse, who was about to dissect his body. Meanwhile, the people around him are trying to understand how deeply Spawn is tied to the government and to their own lives, and a savage creature is still on the loose. This issue also looks back at the origins of the Spawn: the eternal struggle between Heaven and Hell, the armies of souls both sides recruit, and the bargain that turned a decorated soldier into a Hellspawn trained for the final battle of Armageddon. Gritty inks, fiery colours and moody narration set the tone for a story where heroism and damnation are never far apart. If you love dark superhero comics, 90s Image Comics classics or the early run of Spawn, this issue is a great addition to your collection.
