Reflections, Part 2 #17

About this issue

Spawn #17 continues the chilling "Reflections" storyline from Image Comics, with a script by Grant Morrison and dark, detailed art by Greg Capullo and Mark Pennington. Steve Oliff and Olyoptics supply the rich, atmospheric colours. Al Simmons, the damned soldier turned hellspawn, is dragged ever deeper into the shadows of his own existence. Beneath the grimy city, in flooded sewers crawling with rats, Spawn faces a ghostly vision that is as personal as it is terrifying. Meanwhile, the mocking laughter of the Malebolgia echoes across time and space, as the demon lord gazes down upon the man he condemned to an unliving hell and the creature he calls his knight of the pit. This is early-1990s Image Comics at its boldest: gothic, gritty and full of nightmare imagery, with a striking cover of Spawn standing in the dark waters, wrapped in chains and billowing red cape. It is a must-have for fans of Todd McFarlane's anti-hero, collectors of the original Spawn run, and readers who enjoy dark superhero horror with a supernatural twist.
