Reflections, Part 1 #16

About this issue

Todd McFarlane's Spawn returns in issue #16 with "Reflections, Part 1", written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Greg Capullo, with inks by Dan Panosian and Art Thibert. This is a classic early-1990s Image Comics release, full of dark, gothic atmosphere and bold, kinetic artwork. The cover shows Spawn in his blood-red cape, wrapped in heavy chains and surrounded by eerie green fire, a striking image typical of the series' hellish style. Inside, the story moves to a very different setting: a soldier squad arrives at the run-down industrial town of Simmonsville. Their commander, Major Vale, briefs his men on a mission with an unsettling edge, and the troops quickly sense that something about the place is wrong. Then an attack hits them, and the mission turns dangerous. If you love 90s superhero horror, dark fantasy and the legendary Spawn universe, this issue is a great pick for fans and collectors. It also gives a look at how well-known creators like Morrison and Capullo handled the character early in their careers. The issue is dedicated to the memory of Max Gaines.
