Spawn #81: Devil Inside, Part One #81

About this issue

Spawn #81 opens "Devil Inside", a chilling story arc in Todd McFarlane's long-running dark superhero series from Image Comics. The issue begins in the quiet suburb of Merrick, Long Island, where a moonlit house hides something terrible. A young boy, Mark Lucas, creeps through the night, and what he finds in a drawer changes everything. Told through a haunting narration that looks back on the day the community gathered to mourn, the story asks how a polite, quiet child could be pushed to the edge, and what dark force might be whispering in the shadows. The issue shows the grim, atmospheric style that made Spawn a defining title of 1990s comics: deep night blues, glowing windows, glinting eyes in the dark, and dramatic panel layouts that build dread page by page. Streets, churches and bedrooms become settings for horror rather than comfort. If you enjoy supernatural horror, urban dread and gritty superhero storytelling, this chapter is an unsettling starting point for a new arc. It contains violent themes and is aimed at mature readers.
