Spawn #78: Bloodstains #78

About this issue

Spawn #78, "Bloodstains", returns to the dark streets of Todd McFarlane's long-running Image Comics series. Detective Sam Burke keeps a bedside vigil over his wounded partner, Twitch Williams, who lies in a hospital bed with a bullet in his brain. Burke blames himself. He has never been a spiritual man, but in the small hours he finds himself pleading with whatever might be listening. Something is. From the shadows comes the cloaked, green-eyed Spawn, with a warning that Burke should be careful what he wishes for in the dark. This issue pairs a gritty, noir-flavoured crime story with the supernatural horror that made Spawn a 1990s phenomenon. Expect moody, heavily rendered artwork, hard-boiled narration and a bargain that could cost more than anyone expects. It is an atmospheric entry point for fans of dark superheroes, urban horror and street-level crime drama. Whether you are a longtime Spawn collector or are discovering Hellspawn lore for the first time, this issue delivers brooding tension and striking visuals.
