Ultimate OZ Universe Vol. 2: Into the Outerlands #2

About this issue

Return to a bold, modern reimagining of L. Frank Baum's world in Ultimate OZ Universe Vol. 2: Into the Outerlands. Following the events of the first volume, the story leaves the glittering Emerald City behind and pushes into the dangerous, untamed lands that lie beyond the yellow brick road. Written by Fred Van Lente and Larry King, with striking illustrations by Mike Deodato Jr., colors by Ive Svorcina and lettering by Steve Wands, this collected edition brings the Oz mythos into a darker, more adventurous and action-driven setting. The cover by Patricia Martín shows two heroines set against the Emerald City skyline, with a road winding toward menacing, reaching hands in the wilderness. The volume opens with a foreword by actor Neil Patrick Harris, a longtime Oz fan, and is produced by AWA Studios in association with Shaggyman Productions and Alchemation. If you love fantasy adaptations of classic tales, richly designed worlds and dynamic comic art, this collection is an ideal next step in the Ultimate OZ Universe saga. It is best enjoyed after Volume 1, though the set-up invites newcomers who enjoy fairy-tale reinventions. Start reading online instantly in your browser, with no downloads or waiting required.
